Nimoy Theater: Planning a Visit in Westwood

About the Nimoy Theater

The UCLA Nimoy Theater is a flexible performance space on Westwood Boulevard, near the UCLA campus. Named for artist, actor, director and philanthropist Leonard Nimoy, it occupies a historic theater building at 1262 Westwood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90024.

The building opened as the UCLAN Theatre on Christmas Day 1940 and became the Crest Theatre in 1955. A restoration in the late 1980s added Art Deco-inspired details and stylized murals. UCLA acquired the former Crest Theatre in 2018, and the Nimoy is a rehabilitation of the historic venue.

Checking performances and tickets

CAP UCLA presents performances at the Nimoy. Check its listings for current programs, showtimes and ticket availability; prices and details depend on the event.

For a sold-out performance, you may be able to join the standby line at the theater box office on performance night. A waitlist may also be available, with an email window to purchase if additional tickets are released.

The box office is listed as open Monday–Friday, 10 am–4 pm, and on show nights from one hour before showtime unless otherwise noted. It is cashless and accepts major credit cards. Hours and ticket arrangements can change, so check the official site before you go: CAP UCLA.

Getting to the theater from Culver City

The Nimoy Theater is about an 8-minute drive from Galaxy Inn. UCLA lists Culver City Bus Line 6 and Rapid 6 as routes serving the campus, but does not specify a Nimoy-specific stop or a route from Culver City to the theater. Check the bus operator’s route information to plan your trip.

The theater is at 1262 Westwood Boulevard. If you’re driving, use the visitor parking instructions below; allow time to park and reach the entrance before the performance.

Parking and arrival details

CAP UCLA directs drivers to the parking structure at 10866 Wilshire Boulevard. Enter from Glendon Avenue beside the Westwood Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. Use an entrance marked VISITOR, take a ticket and park in a space not marked RESERVED.

Parking is listed at $4 from 5 pm for evening performances and from 12 pm for matinees. Arriving earlier incurs the $30 day parking fee. The surface lot immediately behind the theater is not operated by CAP UCLA and is unavailable for event parking on evenings and weekends.

Plan to arrive 15–20 minutes before curtain. Late seating is generally not allowed unless an artist authorizes it in advance; if permitted, house staff decide when to seat late arrivals.

Accessibility and venue policies

Accessible seating is available at the cross-aisle, and staff can assist wheelchair users from the front doors to their seats. An assistive-listening system is available; ask house staff about borrowing a headset with a driver license. The parking lot has two accessible parking spaces on each level.

Photography, video and recording equipment, including smartphones, are prohibited. Silence devices before the performance. Children over five may attend most events, and each child needs a ticket; infants may not sit on laps.

Visitors age 21 and over with valid ID may purchase beer, wine and mixed beverages. Water, soda and coffee are also available for purchase.

Westwood Boulevard has several dining and coffee options near the theater. Emporium Thai Cuisine is at 1275 Westwood Boulevard, Espressoteric Coffee is at 1311 Westwood Boulevard, and Fresh Corn Grill is at 1266 Westwood Boulevard. You can plan a meal or coffee stop around your show, then head to the theater.
